The Bloomington Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary was organized in 1946, it has disbanded and reorganized twice since 1946 and has been going strong since it’s last reorganization.

The purpose of the Ladies Auxiliary has been to support the Fire Department both financially as well as at the scenes of alarms requiring extended operations or extreme environmental   factors with refreshments at all hours of the day and night. The Ladies Auxiliary also provides assistance to other members of the community when needed.

Fund raising activities that the Ladies Auxiliary has conducted since 1946 have included Rummage Sales, Bake Sales, Raffles, Bazaars, Penny Socials, Nickel Socials, Spaghetti Dinners, Halloween Dances, Pancake Breakfasts and even a Play in which the Auxiliary members were the cast.

The Ladies Auxiliary also marches in many of the parades the Fire Department marches in including the annual Ulster County Volunteer Fireman’s Association Parade in which they have been very successful winning numerous trophies and awards. They also award scholarships to deserving graduates from both Kingston and Rondout Valley High Schools.

The Bloomington Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary is open to women 16 years of age or older and anyone interested in joining can contact the Bloomington Fire House at 338-2794 or stop by at one of our meetings which are the first Wednesday of each month starting at 7:30 PM.
